Wise Fathers were formed in 2022, Richard and Lee had met through a mutual friend in 2020. They both have a common passion for music and after much deliberation decided to write and record a couple of Tracks. After the first track Shedding My Skin was recorded, it was obvious that that they were on to something and as the confidence grew the music started to flow. Nine more tracks followed in quick succession covering styles such as rock, pop, funk and soul. Influences were drawn from Roachford, Living Colour, Lenny Kravitz and Seal with a hint of Motown sprinkled in for good measure. The work rate was fast and exhilarating without pressure, and I am sure there many more songs in the future.
Richard (cousin of Roland Gift of Fine Young Cannibals fame) is an experienced vocalist who sang on the pub and club scene in Birmingham in the 1990 with his bands Something Different, Rosewood and Fuse, trying to pursue the ever elusive record deal. He has great soul to his voice and has pushed the music in different directions bringing in elements such as church organ to complement some gospel elements.
Lee is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer who has released music under Conspires To, Station Island, Terra Nova and under his own name. Most at home with Rock and Metal Wise Fathers has seen him explore more diverse styles, relying on acoustic guitars and Piano for a lot of the tracks. Usually starting with acoustic song or a bass riff, this is then moulded around Richard’s voice and transforms into the finished tracks through the recording and production process.
